Course Details

8-Hour

Designed as an annual refresher course for workers who remove hazardous waste, work at hazardous waste sites or are in contact with health hazards. Meets the requirements outlined in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120.

This course is designed for general site workers who remove hazardous waste or who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances or health hazards.

The course is comprised of eight sections covering topics pertaining to workplace hazards associated with Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER). Topics include HAZWOPER regulations, Site Characterization, Toxicology, Hazard Recognition, Personal Protective Equipment, Decontamination, Medical Surveillance, Confined Space Entry and Emergency Procedures. Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate of completion which is accepted by OSHA as documentation of training.

24-Hour

Mandated by the government for workers visiting an uncontrolled hazardous waste operation, this course covers OSHA’s Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response training standard, 29 CFR 1910.120(e) (3).

This course is specifically designed for workers onsite only occasionally for a specific limited task and who are unlikely to be exposed over permissible exposure limits and published limits; or for Workers regularly onsite who work in areas which have been monitored and fully characterized indicating that exposures are under permissible exposure limits and published exposure limits, where respirators are not necessary, there are no health hazards or the possibility of an emergency developing.

This course is comprised of 15 sections, covering topics pertaining to workplace hazards associated with Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER). Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of completion which is accepted by OSHA as documentation of training.

Note: Workers must have 24 hours of initial training and one day of supervised field experience before they are allowed to enter the site. **The online course meets the standard requirement of 24 hours of initial training. The one day field experience under a trained, experienced supervisor is the responsibility of the student’s employer or potential employer.

40-Hour

This course covers topics included in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120, and is required for workers who perform activities that expose or potentially expose them to hazardous substances, and specifically for workers who are involved in:

  • Clean-up operations
  • Emergency response operations
  • Storage, disposal, or treatment of hazardous substances
  • Uncontrolled hazardous waste sites
  • Voluntary clean-up operations

Topics include protection against hazardous chemicals, elimination of hazardous chemicals, safety of workers and the environment and OSHA regulations. This course covers topics included in 29 CFR 1910.120.

Note on HAZWOPER Compliance

OSHA does not certify or approve HAZWOPER training courses. To fully comply with the HAZWOPER standard, workers must complete hands-on training.

Workers must complete online training and at least three days of actual field experience under a trained, seasoned supervisor before they enter a job site. Field experience is the responsibility of the worker’s employer or potential employer.
